ICLAIM in Paris for the second in-person PREPARED meeting

From 6-9 June 2023 ICLAIM joined 50 other delegates who gathered at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, for the second in-person meeting of the PREPARED project. In the project, which runs from September 2022 to August 2025, ICLAIM has joined 16 global partners, aiming to develop an ethics and integrity framework to support rapid and effective research during global crises, safeguarding key ethical values, and improving overall crisis preparedness.

The Conference built on the work undertaken by all partners in the first 9 months of the project, and it focused on the linkages between Research Ethics and Research Integrity, as well as the meaning of Solidarity and Vulnerability in the context of global crises. The rich input of all presenters, who presented case studies from the field, academia and industry covering a geographical trajectory from the United Kingdom to the Philippines, set the ground work for the next steps in the project.

At the Conference ICLAIM was represented by ICLAIM Founding Director Prof. Stéphanie Laulhé Shaelou and ICLAIM Resident Expert, Dr. Josephina Antoniou, both of whom shared perspectives from their respective expertise. Since the beginning of the project, ICLAIM has produced a report on the impact of COVID-19 on female researchers in Cyprus, has joined partners in their efforts for the identification of problems arising in the context of fast-track peer reviews and publishing during times of crises, and has recently developed the beta version of the PREPARED educational app, which is expected to be released to the public in early 2024.
