Human Rights Education in Context Workshop

During the weekend of the 27th and 28th of July, UCLan Cyprus in association with ICLAIM (Interdisciplinary Centre for Law, Alternative and Innovative Methods) organized a training course with the title “Human Rights Education in Context” took place in the university’s facilities in Pyla. With the support of Dr. Natalie Alkiviadou, Lecturer, UCLan Cyprus, students, teachers and youth workers of multiple backgrounds explored the methodology of human rights education as provided for in Council of Europe handbooks such as COMPASS, BOOKMARKS and All Different All Equal. The course begun with ice breaking activities and followed with a guest lecture on the legal framework of human rights delivered by Dr. Nasia Hadjigeorgiou, Assistant Professor, UCLan Cyprus. The activities that took place included open discussions, group activities and presentations on hypothetical scenarios and modern issues in the human rights education. The participants agreed on the beneficial impact this workshop had ιn their personal development and knowledge expansion as well as the motivation to participate in more actions like this. The project was funded by the Institute for Citizenship, Society and Change and a follow up activity in the form of a conference will take place in September. Stay tuned!

Σεμινάριο με θέμα την Εκπαίδευση στα Ανθρώπινα Δικαιώματα

Στις 27 και 28 Ιουλίου, το πανεπιστήμιο UCLan Cyprus σε συνεργασία με το κέντρο έρευνας ICLAIM (Interdisciplinary Centre for Law, Alternative and Innovative Methods) διοργανώσαν ένα εκπαιδευτικό σεμινάριο με θέμα την εκπαίδευση στα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα το οποίο έλαβε μέρος στις εγκαταστάσεις του πανεπιστημίου στην Πύλα. Με την υποστήριξη της Δρ. Νάταλη Αλκιβιάδου, Λέκτορα του UCLan Cyprus, φοιτητές, εκπαιδευτικοί και άτομα που δουλεύουν με νέους εξερεύνησαν την μεθοδολογία της εκπαίδευσης στα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα όπως δημιουργήθηκε από το Συμβουλίου της Ευρώπης σε εγχειρίδια, συμπεριλαμβανομένου του COMPASS (ΠΥΞΙΔΑ), BOOKMARKS και Όλοι Διαφορετικοί Όλοι Ίσοι. Το πρόγραμμα ξεκίνησε με δραστηριότητες γνωριμίας των συμμετεχόντων και μια διάλεξη με θέμα το νομικό πλαίσιο των ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων από την Δρ. Αθανασία Χατζηγεωργίου, Επίκουρο Καθηγητή του UCLan Cyprus. Υπήρχαν συζητήσεις, ομαδικές εργασίες και παρουσιάσεις σε υποθετικά σενάρια και επίκαιρα θέματα σχετικά με την εκπαίδευση στα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα. Οι συμμετέχοντες συμφώνησαν στον ωφέλιμο αντίκτυπο του εργαστηρίου για την προσωπική τους ανάπτυξη και διεύρυνση των γνώσεών τους καθώς αποτέλεσε κίνητρο για τη συμμετοχή τους σε παρόμοιες δραστηριότητες. Η δράση χρηματοδοτήθηκε από το Institute for Citizenship, Society and Change και ακολουθείται από ένα συνέδριο που θα λάβει μέρος τον Σεπτέμβρη. Μείνετε συντονισμένοι!
